About Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram)
  Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of "God's Own Country" - Kerala is also popularly known by its anglicised name Trivandrum. Thiruvananthapuram , the southern most district of Kerala state is situated to the extreme south of India. To the north of Trivandrum is Kollam district and Thirunelveli and Kanyakumari districts of Tamilnadu are on the east and south respectively. The district can be divided into three geographical regions - highlands, midlands and lowlands.

The most impressive landmark in the town, the temple's presiding deity is Vishnu reclining on serpent Anantha. It has a seven-story tower, many pillars, intricate carvings and mural paintings.The temple is located in East Fort.

Lighthouse beach Lighthouse beach

Lighthouse Beach is beautifully set with palm trees dotted on the headlands, with lots of other beaches around (these are much quieter), an array of restaurants, gift and antiques shops, and tailors where your order is put in in the morning, and you are sure to have it made up and ready-to-wear by the afternoon! There are even shoemakers, where you can have a pair of handmade shoes for less than £5!The water is clean and very warm, even reaching 24°C! Surfing is also possible, and sun beds and parasols are available for rent.

Backwaters Backwaters

If you are limited for time, you can take the local trip from Pachallor Village. It lasts about two hours and will cost you less than £3.00. You will think you are in paradise. If time is on your side, then enjoy the houseboat trip in the backwaters of Alleppy, "The Venice of the East". You can stay on board a converted rice boat overnight with your own chef and two-man crew. You will think you have been transported back hundreds of years. Guaranteed to make you relax, while watching the world go by! Here is the local backwater which is only 10 minutes by rickshaw or taxi. Well worth an early morning visit.

Napier museum Napier museum

The 150 years old museum was established by Maharaja of Travancore in 1855. Only few museums in India, like, Indian Museum Kolkata, Madras Government Museum Chennai, are contemporary to Napier Museum. In 1874, a new building was constructed and was named after Lord napier, the then governor of Madras Presidency. The Architectural masterpiece was designed by Mr. Chisoln, the consulting Architect of the Madras Government and the construction completed in 1880. This 120 year old structure is a landmark in the city with its unique ornamentation and architectural style with gothic roof and minarets.
